long distance trains (such as the Intercity, Euronight and Eurostar trains),
trains on the Brenner-Innsbruck line,
the Verano, Meltina and Maranza funiculars.
Who can use public transportation free of charge?
Children under the age of six and children over six years of age who reside in suburban areas and do not yet attend school may use public transportation free of charge and only if they are accompanied by an adult.
Visually impaired persons who reside in the Province of Bolzano may use the public transportation system free of charge providing they exhibit their Italian Union for the Blind membership card (Unione Italiana Ciechi).
Persons with permanent physical disabilities who are unable to stamp their tickets, persons in wheelchairs, totally disabled persons and the deaf, who reside in the Province of Bolzano, may use public transportation service free of charge. Persons who are entitled to use the public transportation free of charge will be issued a travel pass on request and upon presentation of suitable medical documentation (Office of Passenger Transportation).
Persons born from multiple births who reside in the Province of Bolzano may use public transportation free of charge until they are 18 years of age. Upon presentation of their certificate of family status or a substitute declaration, a travel pass will be issued indicating their identification data and the date of expiration (Office of Passenger Transportation).
Students participating in cultural exchange programmes with schools in the Province may use the public transportation system free of charge, limited to the duration of their stay, on the lines from their home to school and/or to areas of cultural or tourist interest, sports facilities and to cultural, sports or similar events of Provincial interest, limited to the duration of the event. The Office of Passenger Transportation will issue a Travel Pass showing the period of use of the pass and the itinerary for which it is valid.
Persons who perform volunteer civil or social service may use the transportation service free of charge upon exhibit of their civil or social service identity card.
Police personnel may use the transportation service free of charge, within the ambit of their service, even if they are travelling in civilian attire.
Armed forces personnel may travel free of charge within the ambit of their service, providing they travel in uniform.
