| CABLE CARS - THE BEST WAY INTO THE
MOUNTAINS |
The
Provincial fare system comprises not only suburban and
interurban bus services, but also two other, exceptional
means of transport: the cable car to the
Renon plateau, with the connecting train service that
leaves from the top cable car station to the village of
Collalbo, and the Mendola funicular.
The fare system works in exactly the same way and passengers
can buy normal single tickets, value cards and travel passes. Each service has its own
fares.

| RENON: CABLE CAR AND HISTORIC TRAIN
SERVICE |
The
cable car that links Bolzano with the mountain village of
Soprabolzano covers an altitude of more than 1,200 metres
and a distance of 4.56 km. Leaving from the cable car's
mountain station is the historic train service, inaugurated
in 1907, that goes as far as Collalbo passing through
Costalovara. The ticket office located at the valley station
in Bolzano sells all the tickets available through the fare system. Value cards and
normal single tickets for the cable car and train service
are also on sale at the Tourist Offices in Soprabolzano and
Collalbo. Single tickets can also be bought aboard the train
from the ticket inspector.

| CABLE CAR FARES |
Single
tickets for the cable car and the train cost EUR 2,50 each
(return EUR 3,50); using a value card the single fare is
reduced to EUR 2,28 (return EUR 3,91). A Personal Travel
Pass reduces this cost still further: a journey during the
first phase costs EUR 1,27 (return EUR 2,18); in the
second phase the cost is reduced even further to a mere
EUR 0,62 (return EUR 0,88). The different fares for single
and return journeys is due to the fact that the daily fare
is only applied once a day.

| MENDOLA FUNICULAR |
The
funicular that leaves from Caldaro (S.Antonio) to ascend to
the Mendola covers an altitude difference of 850 metres at a
gradient of 65%. Single tickets are on sale from the
automatic ticket machines located in the valley and mountain
stations.

| MENDOLA FARES |
A
single ticket costs EUR 5,00 (return EUR 7,50 ); with a
value card the cost is reduced to EUR 4,42; with a
personalised travel pass a single fare costs EUR 2,46
(return EUR 4,56) in the first phase and EUR 0,96 (return
EUR 1,56) in the second phase. The different fares for
single and return journeys is due to the fact that the
daily fare is only applied once - on the outward journey.
